Bet You Can’t Eat Just One!

We are asked for the recipe for our peanut butter chocolate chip cookies so often I thought I would post it. Just remember one, one and one: one cup of peanut butter, one cup of granulated sugar and one egg. Throw in whatever additives you want – chocolate chips, raisins, nuts, etc. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Even good for gluten free diets. Enjoy!

Quite a Specimen!

We are very fortunate to have a lovely 80-plus-year-old “Cotinus coggygria” more commonly known as a Smoketree or Smokebush.  We have had so many guests comment on it we wanted to share this information as it is quite a specimen.  It’s contorted trunk catches everyone’s eye.  The flowers are really ineffective.  The real show stopper occurs as a result of the hairs (pubescence) on the pedicels and peduncle of the large 6-8? long and wide panicle.  The “hairs” or “smoke” on the tree often pass through several color changes, but at their best, June into August, are a smokey pink.  So if you are planning a trip to Bay City, stop by the Historic Webster House.  We would love to have you see it.

TOP TEN BED AND BREAKFASTS IN THE COUNTRY, a premier source for information on bed and breakfast inns, has named Historic Webster House one of the top ten bed and breakfasts in the United States! We are honored just to be considered for this award, and could not have done it without our wonderful guests. The main criteria considered for this award were quality, and quantity of guest reviews. It is very rewarding to read the numerous reviews stating that Historic Webster House is a destination, not just a place to stay when you are in the Bay City and Frankenmuth area. Thank you past guests for all of the kind reviews on and, we look forward to seeing you again. We also look forward to greeting the many new faces the future will bring, and showing them why we are a top destination in Michigan for romantic getaways, girls night out, and so much more.

Honoring Our Military on Memorial Day

The Webster House was pleased to participate in the B and B for Vets program again this year.  The B and B for Vets program was started by an innkeeper in West Virginia a few years ago.  Since then, it has spread across the country.  The program offers discounted rooms each year on Veteran’s Day to military personnel – active, retired and veteran – as a gesture of thanks for their service.   We also offer a 15% discount to active military throughout the year, Sundays through Thursdays throughout the year.  I am sure all of you will agree that these men and women deserve our gratitude for the sacrifices they have made for our country.
